Over 40 years after its premiere, The Golden Girlsremains one of TV’s most beloved sitcoms, and a re-imagination of the series based on its cozy mystery novelization would require a new cast. The original series starred the late Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty, and with an unforgettable seven-season run on NBC, The Golden Girls isn’t a series that’s easily replicated. Though introducing new audiences to Dorothy Zbornak, Rose Nylund, Blanche Devereaux, and Sophia Petrillo is often as easy as revisiting the original show, the idea of bringing a new Golden Girls to life is interesting.
