Marvel reveals two mutantsquads for its new X-Men continuity, with Magneto and Gambit as their respective leaders. Throughout the decades, leadership of the X-Men typically changes hands between a few iconic field commanders. Charles Xavier, Cyclops, Storm, Magneto, Emma Frost, and Wolverine are all experienced leaders of mainstream X-Men teams, and other heroes like Angel, Rogue, Cable, and Kitty Pryde have all been in important leadership roles, commanding other mutant squads. At least once in their superhero career, the X-Men’s most famous members have found themselves having to carry their teammates to victory.
